Our
Story

Sarah was first a successful and competitive gymnast, and found dancing through ballet and contemporary at Dance City in Newcastle. Following this Sarah discovered Ceroc dance classes, which opened her eye to the world of Modern Jive dancing. Sarah discovered West Coast Swing (through Mark) and discovered her new love of dancing. After spending a few years learning everything there is in WCS she successfully passed the GPDIA to teach WCS.

Mark, having no previous dance experience, stumbled across Ceroc dance classes after going along with his Mum and Dad to see what all the fuss was about and was immediately hooked into Modern Jive. After a couple of years of learning and dancing Modern Jive, Mark joined a local independent Modern Jive group called Jive Junction (Originally Blitz Jive). From there he was trained and passed through Blitz Jive to become one of their resident teachers. Similar to Sarah, Mark is also GPDIA certified to teach WCS.

Mark and Sarah first met at one of Jive Junction's dance classes in Wallsend, and the rest they say is history.

In October 2018, they both decided to start their own dance school 'Sync Dancing' in order to carry on their love and teaching of Modern Jive and West Coast Swing. They have taught regular classes in Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Weatherby, before settling in Middlesbrough and Billingham.

As a partnership they have competed at the World Modern Jive Championships numerous times becoming 3rd Showcase medalists twice, 2nd in take chance, and multiple finalists in multiple categories including the prestigious Open. From 2018, Mark and Sarah have entered the competition world of WCS and have already accumulated multiple trophies.

MODERN
JIVE

This is the dance that got us dancing in the first place!

We have been part of the Modern Jive dance world for over 15 years and have been teaching for over 10 years.

We can quite confidently say if you have 2 left feet then this is the dance for you. As there is no specific footwork we can get you dancing immediately and after 1 night you can dance to a full track of music.

Back in the day it was known as the dance that incorporated Jive and Salsa, but today all dance styles and music are incorporated into the dance.

With dance classes in every town of the UK this dance community is HUGE You can dance on weekenders, holidays and compete at the world famous Blackpool Tower at the World Modern Jive Championships.

Easy to learn and you'll be a pro before you know it!

No sign up and no partner required just turn up and have fun.

Not only is this a social and fun dance but it is also great exercise and will keep you fit!...more enjoyable than the gym.

If it is your first time and you are wondering what to wear, just come in whatever makes you comfortable.

Our classes are aimed to get you moving and grooving straight away so be mindful you will need to have footwear that is light and flexible. Ladies we would recommend a low heel.

WEST
COAST
SWING

This dance captured our eyes 10 years ago! We love it!

It is a modern swing dance that can be danced to so many different music genres and is another reason why you can't get us off the dance floor. One minute you're dancing to modern music, then blues, then swing...the list goes on and on.

Another aspect of West Coast Swing that you will enjoy is that it is a social partner dance. You don't need to bring a partner as we rotate in the class and this gives you the chance to meet new friends and join the dance community. You'll be hooked!
